Puglisi Counseling website before redesign

Project Overview

Redesigning an existing therapy website into a clearer and more professional digital experience.

Puglisi Counseling hired me to redesign their existing website with a stronger visual identity, cleaner layout and more user-friendly experience.
The project combined visual redesign with practical improvements to navigation, service presentation, content organization, SEO-friendly structure and appointment booking.
Rather than treating the project as a simple visual refresh, I approached it as an opportunity to improve how visitors experience the practice from their first visit through the point where they are ready to contact or book an appointment.

The Main Objective

Build a modern therapy website that feels professional, communicates the practice clearly, makes information easier to find, and gives potential clients a simpler path toward taking action.

Client Requirements for the Website Redesign

The project started with a clear list of practical goals.

Before beginning the redesign, I focused on understanding what the client wanted to improve and what the new website needed to accomplish.

REQUIREMENT 01

User-Friendly Navigation

Make it easier for visitors to move through the website and quickly find services, information and contact options.

REQUIREMENT 02

Modern Visual Design

Replace the existing presentation with a cleaner, more modern and professional visual experience.

REQUIREMENT 03

SEO-Friendly Structure

Organize content and page structure with search-friendly foundations in mind.

REQUIREMENT 04

Clear Service Presentation

Make the available services easier for potential clients to discover and understand.

REQUIREMENT 05

Booking Integration

Integrate a booking system to make appointment scheduling more convenient for potential clients.

REQUIREMENT 06

Responsive Experience

Ensure the website remains intuitive and comfortable across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

The Challenge

The website needed to look better, but it also needed to work better.

The challenge was not simply to create a more attractive website. The redesign needed to solve several practical problems at the same time.

The new experience needed to balance professional presentation with easy navigation, useful content, search-friendly structure and an accessible booking path.

01

Modernize

Create a more polished visual identity that better represents a professional therapy practice.

02

Simplify

Reduce unnecessary friction by making navigation, content and service information easier to understand.

03

Convert

Create clearer pathways that help visitors move from learning about the practice to contacting or booking.

Design Goals

Turning the brief into a focused website strategy.

The client’s requirements became the foundation for the design decisions throughout the project.

01

Strengthen the First Impression

Create a professional homepage experience that immediately communicates the practice and helps visitors understand where to go next.

02

Improve Navigation

Build a clearer page structure so visitors can move between services, information and contact options more naturally.

03

Support SEO-Friendly Content

Organize page content and structure in a way that gives the website a stronger foundation for search visibility.

04

Make Services Easier to Understand

Present the practice's services with clearer hierarchy, layout and supporting information.

05

Improve the Booking Journey

Make appointment scheduling easier to discover by integrating booking functionality into the overall website experience.

06

Maintain Responsive Usability

Ensure the redesigned experience remains comfortable, readable and intuitive across different screen sizes.

My Process

A collaborative process from first conversation to final delivery.

I structured the project around communication and iteration. The first version was not treated as the final answer. It became a starting point that allowed the client to review the direction and provide feedback before the final website was completed.

Step 01 — Discover

Understand the Client's Needs

I began by understanding the client’s expectations, priorities and requirements for the new website, including usability, design, SEO structure and booking.

Step 02 — Plan

Define the Website Direction

I translated the requirements into a clearer page structure and visual direction designed around the needs of potential therapy clients.

Step 03 — Design

Create the Initial Demo

I created the first demo version to present the new visual style, page structure, content hierarchy and overall user experience.

Step 04 — Review

Gather Client Feedback

The client reviewed the demo and shared feedback along with specific changes they wanted to see in the final website.

Step 05 — Refine

Implement Revisions

I carefully applied the requested revisions and refined the layout, content presentation and user experience based on the client’s feedback.

Step 06 — Deliver

Finalize the Website

After completing the revisions and final improvements, I delivered the finished website based on the approved direction and project requirements.

First Design Direction

The initial concept established the visual foundation, layout structure and overall user experience for the redesign.

Initial Concept

The first demo gave the client something concrete to react to.

Instead of relying only on discussion or static ideas, I created an initial website demo that allowed the client to see the proposed direction and provide specific feedback.

Client Feedback

The first demo was the beginning of the collaboration, not the end.

After reviewing the initial version, the client provided feedback and requested several changes. I used those comments to refine the website rather than treating the original concept as fixed.

This feedback-driven approach allowed the final website to better reflect the client’s preferences while keeping the original usability and strategic goals in focus.

Client Review

Review the Initial Direction

The client reviewed the demo and identified the areas they wanted adjusted before moving toward the final version.

My Response

Turn Feedback Into Improvements

I carefully worked through the requested changes and refined the website while keeping usability, clarity and professional presentation at the center.

Final Website

A modern therapy website shaped by the client's goals and feedback.

The final website combines the visual direction established in the redesign with clearer content organization, easier navigation, SEO-focused structure and a more accessible booking journey.

My Design Thinking

The final website came from collaboration, not assumptions.

One of the most valuable parts of this project was the feedback loop between the initial concept and the final website. My role was not only to design, but also to listen, interpret feedback and turn that feedback into practical improvements.

Listen First

I start by understanding the client's goals, preferences, audience and expectations before making design decisions.

Solve the Real Problem

A redesign should improve usability and communication, not simply replace colors, fonts or images.

Design Around the User

I consider what a potential therapy client needs to know and how they may move through the website.

Treat Feedback Seriously

Client feedback is part of the design process and helps shape the final experience.

Think About SEO Early

Page organization and content structure are considered as part of the overall website foundation.

Refine the Details

Final revisions focus on consistency, responsiveness, readability and making the overall experience feel complete.

The client was very happy with the final result and the overall experience of working with me.

Project Outcome

A completed website aligned with the client's original goals.

The completed project delivered the improvements the client was looking for: a more modern visual presentation, clearer navigation, better service organization, SEO-friendly structure and a more accessible booking experience.

Just as importantly, the project demonstrated a collaborative workflow where the client could review the initial direction, provide feedback and see that feedback reflected in the final website.

What This Project Demonstrates

My ability to take a client’s requirements, turn them into a practical website strategy, create an initial concept, respond to feedback and deliver a polished therapy website built around real project needs.
